Tivat Airport (IATA: TIV) is one of the smallest international airports on the Adriatic — the arrivals hall empties quickly. In July and August, however, immigration queues for non-Schengen passengers can add 20–40 minutes. We monitor all arrivals in real time. Drive around the bay. On the return, take the Lustica Peninsula detour — the views of Boka Kotorska are the best in Montenegro at no extra distance.
Take the tunnel under Vrmac — it is free and cuts the drive to under 20 minutes. Avoid the old coastal road on summer evenings; it backs up badly from Petrovac.
Two border crossings available — Karasovići and Debeli Brijeg. In summer, Debeli Brijeg queues run 1–3 hours on weekends. Cross before 08:00 or after 19:00. Croatian third-party insurance (Green Card) is included with your rental.
Take the E80 highway via Virpazar. Good motorway for the first half; single-carriageway through the mountains for the rest. Fuel up before the mountains — the next station after Virpazar is Podgorica.
